The English word “holy” comes from the Proto-Germanic/Old Norse language and also carries connotations to the word wholly, which means completely or fully, also related to the adjective and noun “whole”.
In the current Norwegian language (Bokmål), which is more or less derived from Danish, the word for holy is “Hellig”. The word for complete or whole in Norwegian is “Hel”, and “Hellig”, means holy, “complete like” , “whole like” or “similar to that which is whole”. Basically, our definitions of that which is holy, is something that suggests to be complete or whole. In this very moment, if we are not holy, then this would imply that we are incomplete and missing something. So then, if we are in a state of incompletion or rather unholiness, what exactly are we missing, and what do we have to do in order to become holy or whole?
The Absolute
![The Tree of Life Expressed [by Gnostic Teachings] – The Owl of Athena](https://i1.wp.com/gnosticteachings.org/images/stories/kabbalah/tree-of-life-ain-soph.png)
The kabbalistic tree of life is a tool or a map of consciousness and its descent into matter. It is consequently a map of the microcosm and macrocosm at the same time. When we refer to the Absolute, we are referring to the very top of the tree of of life and it has three aspects:
- Ain is the same as Sat in Sanskrit—in other words, the Unmanifested Absolute.
- Ain Soph is the second aspect; it is where a certain manifestation already exists. It is the place where all creatures abide when the great pralaya (cosmic night) arrives, because they do not have the right to enter into the Ain, into the Unmanifested Absolute, which is beyond thought, word, atom, sound, beyond all of that which has form, number, weight, etc.
- Ain Soph Aur is the third aspect in accordance with the Hebrew Kabbalah. Here we find the first cosmos, the purely spiritual Protocosmos. It is the Solar Absolute, which is formed by multiple spiritual suns. – Samael Aun Weor, Tarot and Kabbalah

It is beyond the intellectual mind’s capacity to grasp the happiness of the Absolute as it is far, far beyond the mind. The intellectual mind is conceptual and dualistic, it is a tool for the consciousness to be able to communicate intellectual concepts and ideas in the third dimension. There is no duality in the Absolute, not even the concept of it or even the shadow of the concept about it. The Absolute abstract space has been described as a nothingness, but everything in the same time. It is truly a union of all the paradoxes of nature. It is a great unifier, it is really the beginning and the end of all things. Imagine a vast sea of an omnipenetrating consciousness silently embracing the entire cosmos. Each person, each animal, plant, rock, particle etc has their own spark from this spiritual sun which is like one droplet in a greater expansive limitless ocean. It is the root of spirit and of matter, but it is neither Spirit nor matter. It is beyond all laws and neither karma nor pain can exist there. Therefore, it is life, completely free in its movement, boundless without any restrictions thus, absolute happiness is the outcome.

There exists a level of consciousness in the Ain Soph. During a great cosmic night, when the universe is dissolved in repose, all beings reside here, some as pure and innocent monads, virginal sparks of the cosmic fire, and some as self realized monads. These self realized monads are Masters, Gods and they exist in varying degrees. A monad is a term given to the virginal spark of the Absolute which exists in each person, the innermost being, the spirit. In Kabbalah, the monad is represented by the sephiroth Chesed, Geburah, and Tiphereth. We will get back to this later.
When the profound night for the creators of this solar system arrives, they will be absorbed within the bosom of the Absolute, and only a group of moons will remain, and the planets, the Sun, the Earth, and life with all its virginal sparks will disappear. A virginal spark corresponds to each one of us; a virginal spark corresponds to each living creature, and these sparks are absorbed within the Absolute for seven eternities. – Samael Aun Weor, Tarot and Kabbalah
There exists Masters who resides in the Absolute permanently and they are the beings who are truly Masters of creation. They are the monads or souls who went all the way down into creation and managed to merge with the Absolute by their own efforts. This gigantic task is the “great work”, the “magnus opus” and requires endless work upon oneself, awakening the consciousness first and foremost, transmutation of the lead of the ego into the gold of the spirit and a strength of willpower that can only be manifested through the support of divinity. These beings, having achieved their total liberation merge with the Absolute as complete Masters of creation. They consciously inhabit the Absolute as self realized monads, with absolute consciousness about themselves and their own happiness. The monads who do not achieve self realization is what we can call a pure elemental of nature, or a virginal spark of the great cosmic flame. This is a very pure essence or monad which are completely innocent, enjoying the immense and unfathomable happiness of the Absolute. These are the monads who went down into creation and duality, but got stuck there. Eventually, when their time was up, they also return to the Absolute, but only after being purified by nature in the inferior dimensions of creation. This is a slow and painful process, but absolutely necessary. Only by being completely purified can they merge with the Absolute. It is immensely preferred to do the purification of oneself on own initiative, rather then have nature do it for you. When these beings return to the Absolute, they are pure, innocent and completely happy. However, they are simple monads, elementals without comprehension or consciousness about their own happiness. As happiness without comprehension of its own happiness is not complete happiness, the ray of creation emerge out of the Ain Soph in order for creation to occur again. The creation occurs for the monads without self realization in order for them to self realize. To achieve that, the monads or beings without realization of its own happiness must descend into duality in order to first recognize “re-cognize” themselves and then to realize themselves.

For a monad to recognize itself, it needs an opposition. It needs to recognize that which it is not. As a monad in the Absolute is in a constant state of blissful happiness, it cannot cognize itself as being happy because that is all it cognizes. If all we ever experienced was the day and there never was any night, we would not appreciate the day at all. How could we? Therefore, the monads of the Absolute needed to descend into lower dimensions in order to experience a separation from the Absolute, for then become conscious about it, and finally to subsequently strive for a reunion with the Absolute. The spiritual sun, the Solar Absolute wants to create solar men and women. It wants to create masters of the Solar system with absolute consciousness of their own perfection and happiness. The monad needs to know itself, or cognize itself first. That can only take place by experiencing that which it is not, hence the reason for the descent into matter. The monad needs an opposition in order for it to recognize itself just like light needs darkness to be comprehended, and how what we call evil must be experienced before we can appreciate that which we call good.
the pilgrimage of the human being from one world into the other began. Finally, they arrived on Earth, where they are presently living, submitted to the wheel of birth and death until they learn to live governed by the law of love. The universe emerged from within the bosom of the Absolute, and the Uncreated Light sank into a nostalgic sunset. Thus, this is how the gods and human beings descended within the shadows of the universe. Samael Aun Weor, Tarot and Kabbalah
The emanation from the Absolute and the descent into duality

Creation emerge from the Absolute, the Ain Soph Aur, also called the spiritual sun. The ray of creation emanates from the Ain Soph Aur and unfolds itself through the ten sephiroth on the tree of life. Firstly, it divides itself into three in order to create, Kether, Chokmah, Binah, or Father, Son and Holy Spirit, or if you like, Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva. We call this triangle the logoic triangle because it is the first triangle of the Solar logos or the Ain Soph Aur. In Binah, home of the third logos, the cosmic creative sexual force, the Father unfolds himself into Father/Mother and gives birth to the very beloved son, represented by the sephirah Chesed.

Chesed is our innermost, our real being. He is our own internal God. From Chesed. the ray of creation further unfolds itself into Geburah and Tipheret, and they form the spiritual triangle. This triangle we call the monad and it has three aspects; Chesed is the spirit, the innermost, the flame, our internal being. The being never falls, he is always pure and comes into creation to realize himself. He is the son of the Solar Logos and he is our real father who is in secret. Geburah is the divine soul and is related to divine consciousness. If Chesed is the flame then Geburah is the alabaster lamb which contains the flame. They are the eternal bride and groom and relate to our divine Father and Mother and their son is our human soul. Tiphereth is the human soul which generally a human only has a fraction of incarnated. This then relates to the essence which constitutes our level of free consciousness. It is generally said that human beings have about three percent free consciousness as the rest lies bottled up within inhuman elements constituting the “I” the “Myself”. Tiphereth is related with willpower and as we stated, human beings only have a fraction of their human soul incarnated, this is our divine essence which relates to our free consciousness that is not asleep. The other two spheres contained in the Monad (Chesed and Geburah) are not incarnated, but will eventually become incarnated if one takes up and walks the path of self realization. All the sephiroth on the tree of life are within each and every person at any given time, but some exists only in potentiality due to our current state of consciousness. As the monad descends into what we call creation, it still carries with it its divine attributes and consciousness. However, the consciousness or divine essence of the being gets trapped by the psychic aggregates that we collectively call the ego structure. Life happens, we enter the wheel of samsara and karma and become blinded by the illusion of duality. Through our subjective emotions and psychology we become fascinated and identified with the details of our lives either if its painful or pleasant. This wrongful identification with illusory phenomena as real, makes us interpret the events in our lives in a subjective and dualistic manner. This in turn makes us act according to an erroneous perception of reality and thus karma is produced. As karma is produced and no efforts are being made towards the reunion with higher cosmic principles in us and the destruction of the inferior elements which brings us pain, the result is life after life subject to the laws of karma in an ever increasing complicating manner. We get stuck in devolution and the mechanical laws of nature. The further away we get from the Absolute, the more complicated we become.

As this happens, it can be hard to discover or experience our divine essence that we all carry inside. In other words, we descend into darkness and the darkness nearly swallows all the light. The separation from the Absolute and divinity leaves a void inside of each human being. We would argue that this incompletion, or void is felt subconsciously by most human beings, and that this in turn makes human beings subconsciously project their energy towards false needs and desires in the external world to correct, or fill up this internal void, which is caused by the separation from our true creator in the first place. That void will always haunt us until the will of the Being is the governor of our actions. Most of our yearnings in life be it security, jobs, sex, status etc is actually a subconscious yearning to fill the void caused by the separation from the being inside of us, on an external level. The reality is then that only the yearning for, and subsequent internal reunion with our intimate being can make it whole or complete again.
“People will do anything, no matter how absurd, in order to avoid facing their own souls. One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.” Carl Jung – Psychology and Alchemy
The satisfaction and gratifications of desires in the external world and the world of senses belongs to time, and thus they are always temporary, momentary. We must fight against the slavery inside ourselves, the slavery of our willpower to the mechanical forces of desire and fear. Our consciousness must be dominant over our minds and not the other way around. The free consciousness (about three percent) that we have available of our being is symbolized in the Bible in the story of David and Goliath. As the general current state of humanity is in a total devolution and subject to karma and the mechanical laws of nature, a revolution of the spirit against the mechanical nature of the ego structure is what’s required. A complete rebellion. This is not a matter of small superficial changes, but a profound, radical restructuring of our foundation based on the values and consciousness of our being.

The Reunion and experiences with divinity
The origin and meaning of the word “religion” is disputed, but we would argue the most accepted explanation is its connection with the word “re-ligare”, which means to reconnect or even bind a bond between humans and gods. The word “Alchemy” is a word derived from Arabic where “Al” means God and “Chem” means to fuse with, so the word “Alchemy” means to fuse with God. The word “yoga” literally means union with the supreme spirit.

If we ever were to experience our true divine nature even for just a brief moment, we should be able to cognize or even “re-cognize” ourselves. For everyone who has had or is having these types of experiences, try to recall what it did to you, what it was like, how blissful was it? and how did it make you feel? Those experiences could only have existed due to our separation from the source. Which brings us back to the origin of creation, as a means to create opposition as a mirror to recognize itself. The blissful states experienced in momentary unification with our being makes us know our true nature. Again, this could only happen due to experiencing a separation from the being in the first place, hence the need for opposition in order to re-cognize. To experience the separation from divinity leads towards experience and subsequently recognition of our true nature. To acquire experiences of our true nature is very important. We guess many people reading this article have had these experiences which has launched them on a search for truth and self knowledge. These experiences are so important as they inspire us, and they can give us direct experience of our own being, eliminating the psychological need for “belief”. Moreover, they make us experience our true nature and to recognize ourselves as divine beings sleeping in matter. Imagine being lost from your child a whole life and then to be able to hold your child again after 50-60 years. Your divine Mother and Father have been with you in all your physical lives, all of them. All the pain you have ever been through, they know, they were there. They want you to return to their house, no matter how dirty you might think you are, they still love you no matter what. The doors are wide open, and you will be welcomed with open arms, but we must renounce our harmful actions. They want their child back in their house, but no one can be forced. It is truly great to have experiences with our being, they are gifts of comprehension and inspiration. This should arguably be used for further advancement on the path to completion and reunion with the Absolute. These experiences must be taken as inspiration in the great work and they can completely solidify our faith. If we have not had conscious experiences of our own divine essence or being, then this is a great goal to strive towards. This is because it will allow us to re cognize ourselves as what we truly are and what we truly are not. In order for us to have any experience of that nature, we must be able to surpass the mechanics of the mind, to enter into purer states of consciousness. There are many techniques for this and meditation is arguably the preferred one for beginners. We like to call ourselves Gnostics which comes from a Greek word “Gnosis” meaning knowledge, but a knowledge that has been acquired through direct experience. Spiritual experiences can also come to people due to karma from past lives. If for example we were working on our awakening in past lives, were involved in mystery schools etc, experiences can come to us naturally. A lot of experiences can come to us in the astral plane, in the fifth dimension and also beyond. It is very normal, especially with monads who have been on the path in previous lives to start having profound experiences in the astral plane. V.M Zoroaster explains in his talk about astral experiences and the death of the ego that these experiences are typically given to an individual to inspire, and to encourage that person to take up the path, as this person has the necessary karma to do so. Meaning that the path is open to them, if they should decide to walk it.

In experiencing what is our true nature will we see clearly that we are filled up by many things which are not of a divine nature at all. In fact they are something completely different, and they separate us further from divinity. We should thus be able to comprehend that our consciousness or essence lies asleep in many psychological aggregates which are mostly based on a false concept of duality and self. To reunite ourselves with divinity, and to really fill the void is to awaken the consciousness, and to incarnate or integrate our divine archetypes which our being consists of. These archetypes or attributes/virtues are in potentiality thus they must be born inside of us. In order to reunite ourselves with divinity and to become holy or whole, cooperation with the solar logos is necessary. The Logoic triangle, Father, Son and Holy Spirit are contained within the Ain Soph. Behold the three forces in union contained by the fourth, the Holy four. As above so below, in our physical body we also have these three forces as Father, perfect objective consciousness, Son, universal love and Holy Spirit as power, life force related to the creative, sexual energies. Again, the three forces contained by the fourth, the holy four on a microcosmic level. The Father, consciousness rules the intellectual center, the Son, love rules the heart center, and the Holy Spirit, life energy itself rules the sexual center.

It is necessary to imitate the work of the Solar Absolute which gave birth to the macrocosm, on a microcosmic scale. This work is of a sexual nature as the blueprint for the attributes of our being, our monad lies in the chaotic creative forces in man, the semen. In Gnosis we talk about the three factors which must be worked with in order to fuse with divinity, these are:
- To die
2. To be born again
3. To sacrifice for humanity
“No one would be able to achieve adepthood without the three factors of the revolution of consciousness, clearly expressed by Our Lord the Christ: “He who wants to come after me, deny himself, take up his cross and follow me”.
” To deny oneself” means dissolution of the “I”.
To take up one’s cross, place it on our shoulders, means to work with sex-yoga, with the Maithuna, with sexual magic.
To follow the Christ is equivalent to sacrificing oneself for humanity, to give one’s life so that others may live. The virginal sparks that do not achieve mastery during the three thousand cycles of manifestation see the masters, the gods, in a similar manner as ants see the humanoid” Samael Aun Weor – Hell, Devil and Karma
The road to Mastery starts with the Mastery of the sexual waters. As the chaotic sexual waters are the root of all creation, so are they the root of all creation on an internal level as well. Accordingly, they are the forces which must be harnessed for the faculties of our being to be awakened (or born) and thus perceiving divinity directly. Consider the art of Michelangelo above, Adam is touching God through transmutation of the sexual creative force symbolized by his small genitals. The abstention from the orgasm and transmutation of the sexual energy builds up and reverses the vital or creative force in man, thus creating internal life and a solid foundation for the building of the temple. However, there is a need for the opposite polarity of the sexual force in order to awaken the fire. The Sahaja Maithuna is the Great Arcanum, the sexual contact with the Phallus and the Uterus without spilling the semen, only to be performed by a married couple. This is sexual Alchemy, to sacrifice animal desire for the construction of the internal divine faculties and the reunion with our true being. This creates a fountain of inner life and happiness illuminating the dark void of incompletion. The man and woman in chastity, with a solid foundation of creative energy can fecundate this energy by uniting sexually with each other, always in love, without the spilling of the semen. Like David we must pick up the stone (sex) and hurl it between the eyebrows (sublimate the creative force and open the third eye) of that giant (the ego), giving it a lethal blow. This work has many facets which will be expanded upon in later posts.

The factor of death relates to the death of the “I” the “myself”, the “ego”. This is also related with sexuality as the sexual force harnessed must be used towards the destruction of the egotistic psychological aggregates that one carries within. We carry lust, gluttony, laziness in our belly, anger, hatred and envy in our hearts and pride in our head. When a superior force (the holy fire, the kundalini) is directed or accompanying in the meditative work upon the destruction of these aggregates, the results will be more successful. The last factors reminds us about the points made in the beginning of this post, about how everything emerges from the Absolute, thus in reality everything is one. All creation emerged from the same source. By hurting your neighbor you are in reality hurting yourself. To stop hurting our neighbor is not enough. We must also cultivate so much completion in ourselves, so much love that we can gladly receive the insults of our neighbor without protesting. The law of the Absolute is love, the law of creation is love. To sacrifice your ego for your fellow man is to sacrifice yourself for the Solar Logos, for the good of all creation. Edgar E, Cayce, one of the world’s most renowned and well known psychics often gave life reading to people about their past existences, and the implications on their present life. He would also answer questions while being in a trance. One time he was asked the question on how one can find happiness and peace of mind in life. This is his answer
“Aid to others brings release, brings peace, brings harmony. For, remember, as His promises were then, as they are today; ‘My peace I give you, my peace I leave with you; not as the world knoweth peace,’ not of ease, but rather that as of the conviction within self that ‘Others may do as they may, but as for me, I will serve the living God; That is the only means, the only outlet, that releases binding forces. For, the truth shall make you free, and ye shall be free indeed!”
We must start working where we are and we must never allow ourselves to fall into defeatism. The doors to forgiveness are wide open, but we must renounce the harmful actions which put us and others in pain. We must start by cultivating the light were we can, by cooperating with the forces of creation, and by living in harmony with the purpose of our creator, the Solar Logos which wants to create Solar beings and in doing so, sends us into creation, physicality, opposition and dualism. The darkness that one faces must be used as a catalyst for spiritual growth. We descend into our own abyss and steal light from Satan by destroying our psychological aggregates which constitutes the “I”. Darkness is used as a catalyst to create light. In the beginning stages of sexual Alchemy, lust is being used as a means of entering the sexual act, but with the intent to steal the fire back to our being. Later on and after substantial purifications, lust diminishes and love and spiritual yearning becomes more dominant. The point is that we need darkness to cultivate light and we need to know the darkness before we can recognize ourselves as light. As mentioned in the beginning of this article, the word “Hellig” means holy in Norwegian and consists of the word “Hel”. “Hel” in Norwegian means complete or whole. The word “Hel” is also the name of a Goddess in Norse mythology which rules the lowest dimension (also called Hel) of the nine worlds of the universal world tree Yggdrasil. This is where we get the English word “Hell” from. Its arguably interesting how in the Norwegian language the word for complete or whole, is also is the same word for hell. This is just another interpretation of that which wants self realization or completion, needs to descend from above, penetrate that which is below and return above again. Therefore, as we are currently experiencing the “below”, lets work on ourselves to return above again. The forces of the Solar Absolute are contained within you in this very moment. Lets simplify our lives and our psychologies in order to make of ourselves a better vehicle for the pure expression of the Solar Logos. Let’s use our willpower to create light out of darkness! Let’s aid others to bring peace, bring harmony, bring release! Let us serve the living God (Holy Spirit, sexual creative energies) and release ourselves and others from binding forces (karma)!
Great post MAL, great post indeed.
This truly is sub vorthy!

A really good description of the life processes. Beside the fact that it discriminates homosexual people and buddhist monks. Further its pretty bold to think you know gods plan. Not even Jesus did. =)
